It is hard to find person who has celebrated almost years of continuous work and is still full of vigorous energy to continue his work. He has even worked on his doctorate. Indeed, it is hard to find person who is both inspiring and optimistic at the same time. In short, he Ken Shemwell, the Undersheriff of Santa Barbara. We discussed several issues including Isla Vista and to what degree Santa Barbara is safe. Isla Vista, which is one and half miles away, holds the majority of UCSB students since it is an affordable place for UCSB students to live. Shemwell was particularly interested in discussing Isla Vista issues with us. Indeed, he told us about how the foot patrol loves its work. In fact, the most noticeable thing there is that the foot patrols does their job by walking in the area because they want to make sure everything is stable. Also, they enjoy dealing with people face to face.

The UnderSheriff explained to us at what degree people in Santa Barbara cooperate with police. If the citizens have any information they directly inform the police about it. And if they have any special questions, they simply come and ask.

He declared that they do not suffer from lack of employees in the office. Indeed, he thinks the number of the employee there is sufficient. Also, he also told us about the use of technology. Indeed, they have a website, which is useful one. It help the people contact with them, since the majority of people use computers in their life in several ways. When you visit the website, you find much useful information. You do not feel the time passing when you meet interesting people like the Undersheriff of Santa Barbara. Ken Shemwell is not stranger to hospitality. In the end he’d like to encourage students to work in the office.
